According to the public relations report of the Scientific Association of Medical Law of Iran, the 6th International Congress of Medical Law focusing on dental law was held on the 3rd and 4th of August 2024 in the conference hall of the Misbah educational complex of the great prophet (pbuh) in Sari city. Dr. Mahmoud Abbasi – President of the Congress and President of the Scientific Association of Medical Law of Iran – in the opening session of the conference, which was held with the presence of about 300 thinkers from different fields of jurisprudence, law, ethics, medicine, dentistry and the guests of the Congress, he called the health system one of the important social arenas are faced with structural, legal and moral challenges, and to solve these challenges, interaction and consensus of the views of thinkers from different scientific fields is needed to enable scientific consensus and realization of practical achievements. While welcoming the presidential elections of Iran in a transformational way and recalling the victory of the president-elect who is himself a scientific member of the health system and has now become the head of the country’s executive branch, he emphasized that: it is expected that Dr. Pezshkian who know this field and are aware of its various dimensions, with his developmental approach and transcendental thoughts, he can place the health system, especially the Ministry of Health, in its rightful place. The head of the Scientific Association of Medical Law of Iran emphasized the increasing spread of medical violations, especially dental faults, surgical and beauty treatments, and faults in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Abbasi emphasized that we have dedicated the 6th International Congress of Medical Law to dental law; Because it is one of the most damaging areas in medical errors and ranks third among these errors. So far, neither in the country nor in the Middle East region, a congress with this title has not been held, and fortunately, this congress has provided an arena for thinkers in the fields of jurisprudence, ethics, and dentistry to discuss and exchange opinions about medical errors and appropriate mechanisms. The president of the International Congress of Dental Law stated that the reality of official costs, the chaotic economic situation, the lack of adequate insurance coverage, and the lack of efficient supervision are among the factors of the spread of medical and dental errors. He called for the development of a set of legal measures and the development of a preventive criminal policy in this field. He added: When we talk about the transformation in the health system, it means that we are facing challenges in all these fields, and when we talk about the criminal policy governing the health system, it means that we need a set of comprehensive measures that will help us in prevention and monitoring. and help to punish the offenders. In the opening session of this Congress, sheikh Dr. Hosseini Layimi – head of the leadership representative office at Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences – and Dr. Abbas Karimi – a distinguished professor of Private law – presented their statements as the two main speakers at the opening.
